Investment company EMERAM sells its portfolio company Officium to Arcus Infrastructure Partners LLP

Munich, 18 January 2022: Funds advised by EMERAM Capital Partners, one of the leading investment companies for medium-sized companies in the German-speaking region (“EMERAM”), sell their portfolio company Officium to Arcus Infrastructure Partners. The transaction has now been completed ("Closing").

In less than two years, with the support of EMERAM, Officium has succeeded in building one of the leading independent metering and energy service providers for the housing industry in Germany. With a consistent buy-and-build strategy and the development of innovative, digital offerings, Officium has steadily expanded its market position in a highly fragmented market. The company currently services more than one million meters and will continue its successful growth course in the future.

Markus Gyssler, Partner at EMERAM, comments: "In EMERAM's portfolio, Officium is another example of how the right strategy and its consistent implementation can be very successful in creating significant value in the German SME sector. Both organically and inorganically via buy and build, with a total of ten acquisitions, we have developed a strong first platform into a measurement service provider active throughout Germany. In addition to the high speed of expansion, we have always driven procedural and cultural integration. In this way, we have expanded the company very effectively for customers, partners and employees, as well as leading to an excellent investment for our investors. We now see Arcus as the ideal partner to accompany Officium in its next growth phase in the best possible way."

Stephan Kiermeyer, Managing Director of Officium, adds: "Thanks to the strong support of EMERAM in the role of Business Development Partner, especially in the areas of strategy, expansion and optimization of internal procedures and processes, Officium has become a leading national player in submetering in just 20 months. With a clear focus on M&A with mid-sized companies and the resulting coverage with locations throughout Germany, Officium has been able to grow rapidly and in a structured manner. With our new shareholder, Arcus Infrastructure Partners, we have now turned to the next chapter. We are looking forward to expanding even more strongly in the German market with an internationally active partner and to consistently pursuing the path we have taken so far. For us, the long-term orientation is a stable anchor for a successful future in our submetering segment."

Stefano Brugnolo, Partner at Arcus Infrastructure Partners, explains: “Having identified the European submetering sector as a key area of focus for Arcus some years ago, we are delighted to have acquired Officium which stands out as a particularly attractive mid-market and independent player in the German market. We look forward to supporting the continued growth of the business alongside Stephan Kiermeyer, Officium’s CEO and founder, and bringing to bear our experience in metering from Horizon Energy Infrastructure and Smart Meter Assets to build on Officium’s well established market position.”

The purchase price is subject to confidentiality. EMERAM was advised by Noerr, Alvarez & Marsal and ING-Bank on this transaction.
